Gamebryo is a flexible, cross-platform game development engine and toolset, optimized for current- and future-generation game development in any genre. Gamebryo accelerates your project, whether you’re creating your prototype or first-playable, streamlining your production pipeline, or targeting multiple consoles. NifTools aims to provide users with Tools to View, Edit, Create and Visualise 3D Models stored in the NetImmerse File Format. The NIF format is used by many popular games based on the NetImmerse/Gamebryo Game Engine such as Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim. We are creating a unified description of the NIF file.
Emergent has released the latest update to its Gamebryo game engine, bringing the technology up to version 2.6.Chief improvements in the upgrade – which was completed by Emergent within four months thanks to the engine’s internal flexibility – include large-scale improvements for the Wii, including support for Wii-specific texture formats, reduced memory requirements and for the Emergent Terrain System. The engine’s DirectX 10 performance also gets a boost with this update, mostly focusing on support for D3D10 FX shaders. Gamebryo’s animation system has also received an upgrade, reducing data redundancy when instancing animation data and improving all-round memory usage by up to 40 per cent.Integrations with other technologies and packages have also been improved, upgrading support for Softimage XSI 6.5 and Nvidia’s PhysX.“Gamebryo enables developers to get cross-platform titles to market quickly no matter what type of game they are making,' said Geoffrey Selzer, CEO of Emergent Game Technologies.' We have architected Gamebryo for the next two generations of game development and 2.6 is just the beginning. Our flexible, modular and extensible architecture means that our customers and partners can customize and expand Gamebryo’s capabilities to their needs easily, quickly and with confidence of stability.
This saves them time and money while reducing risk.”.
Engine descriptionFrom Wikipedia Gamebryo is a game engine, originally from Numerical Design Limited (NDL), and the successor to NDL's NetImmerse engine. Since the creation of Gamebryo, NDL merged into Emergent Game Technologies (EGT). Gamebryo then evolved to Gamebryo LightSpeed and these are the two products of Emergent Game Technologies. During 2009 the development staff of Gamebryo dropped by more than half, and by July 2010 the engineering office in Chapel Hill, North Carolina was closed with several developers announcing their departure. On November 11, 2010 Gerbsman Partners was retained by Venture Lending & Leasing V, Inc., the senior secured lender to Emergent Game Technologies, Inc., to solicit interest for the acquisition of all or substantially all of EGT’s assets, including its Intellectual Property (“IP”), in whole or in part.
